History Fun & Ice Cream August 27
The Springfield Historical Society is hosting the opening of the bridge dedication time capsule buried 25 years ago during a fun-filled afternoon Sunday, August 27.
A city-wide scavenger hunt is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Clues can be picked up at the Springfield Community Center or on this website. Locations are in the city limits and easily reached by walking or bicycling. When reviewing the clues, you may want to plan your route! You’ll learn more about the history of Springfield and its unique landmarks.
The ice cream social, hosted by First Savings Bank, begins at 3 p.m. and runs until 4 p.m. The time capsule content reveal and quilt raffle winner will be drawn at 4 p.m.
The Springfield Community Center is the focal point of the activities. Take a look back 25 years and longer. A free will donation to support building maintenance of the Springfield Museum is appreciated.
